They say records are made to be broken. Well, actually someone has to set those records in the first place. In regards to Waubonsee’s women’s basketball program, Amanda Wolf was that person. When she walked off the court for the last time in a Chiefs’ uniform in 2001, Wolf held numerous Waubonsee records including most points in a season, most career points, and three-point baskets made in a season.

Wolf graduated from Aurora West High School in 1999, where she was a three-sport student-athlete for the Blackhawks. As a freshman at Waubonsee, the 5’7” guard averaged 14 points, six rebounds and three assists per game en route to being named to the All-Skyway First Team. Her sophomore season she raised her average to 17.2 points a game, grabbed six boards per contest, shots 74 percent from the foul line, made a then-school record 49 three-pointers, and led the Lady Chiefs in steals and assists. Not surprisingly Wolf was selected the Skyway Conference Player of the Year. Wolf was also chosen to the All-Region Team, and earned All-Tournament honors at both the College of DuPage Tournament and Waubonsee’s Invitational Tournament. “We really had a good group that hung out together on and off the court,” recalls Wolf. “We worked hard, and Coach Dana and Coach Rink kept us all grounded and on the same page. Their leadership was invaluable.”

Wolf earned her Associate Degree from Waubonsee and then worked an internship at Disney World in Florida. She later went on to play basketball at Aurora University in 2002 and 2003, where she was a member of Spartans’ teams that won back-to-back conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Wolf graduated from Aurora in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration and worked for several years at a variety of different industrial supply companies. During this time her athletic spirit remained, and she eventually earned certification as a personal trainer from the National Personal Training Institute. Wolf began working at Cheetah Gym in Chicago, started running half marathons, and even ran the Chicago Marathon twice. For a time she also worked in sales for the Chicago Sky Women’s Professional Basketball organization. Today she is a stay-at-home Mom to one-year old son Everett, and lives in Evanston.
