John Dolan was an outstanding wrestler during his time at Waubonsee. But it was off the mat that Dolan made an even bigger impression. Former Chiefs’ Wrestling Coach Dave Hejtmanek describes Dolan as a person of outstanding character and integrity, who always went the extra mile to improve him self and was one of the hardest workers he’s ever been around.

Dolan graduated from Oak Forest High School in 1988. He immediately made his presence felt at Waubonsee by earning the Skyway Conference Championship at 190 pounds his freshman season. The next season Dolan improved upon that accomplishment by winning the Region IV crown and advancing all the way to the 190-pound National Championship match. Although he lost the title bout, Dolan earned NJCAA All-American status and finished his two-year career at Waubonsee with an overall record of 78-22-2. He accepted a wrestling scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Dolan completed an A.S. in Science from Waubonsee in 1991 and began working for the Chicago Police Department (CPD). He worked for the Chicago Housing Authority from 1992 until 1998, serving with a Special Task Force that dealt with High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area the final three years. He is currently assigned to the CPD’s Gang Intelligence Unit, and is married with three children.
