Waubonsee’s Rossler enshrined into Skyway Hall of Fame

(Elgin, IL.) — Former Waubonsee Community College two-sport standout Maxzine (Rossler) Vrbenec was formally inducted into the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference's (ISCC) Athletic Hall of Fame at the league's year-end luncheon June 9 at Elgin Community College. The Hinckley-Big Rock High School graduate was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American on the soccer field and a two-time All-ISCC selection on the basketball court for the Chiefs from 2010 through 2012.

(Rossler) Vrbenec is the all-time leading scorer in Waubonsee women's soccer history, and still holds or shares 18 Chiefs' records. She burst onto the national stage in the fall of 2010 by finishing third nationally in goals with 37 and points with 82, while scoring in every ISCC match that season. The freshman was named an NJCAA Second Team All-American, and was selected the Region IV and ISCC Player of the Year. She helped lead the 16th ranked Chiefs (18-4-1) to an undefeated (6-0) conference title, a Region championship, and a District Runner-up finish. The following year the sophomore striker finished second nationally in goals with 34, was third in points with 83, and 12th in assists with 15. She was named an NJCAA All-American once again, and was selected to both the All-ISCC and All-Region First Teams for the 10th ranked Chiefs. Waubonsee (17-6-0) captured the Region title and went on to win the District crown to earn a berth in the 8-team NJCAA Division I National Tournament, the first Region IV team to ever do so. A 5'6" guard, she was also a key member of Waubonsee's basketball program, averaging 12.5 points-per-game while helping the Chiefs win 35 games over two seasons. She earned All-ISCC First Team and All-Region Second Team as a freshman, was All-ISCC Second Team as a sophomore, and was named Waubonsee's Female Athlete of the Year for 2011-12.
