WCC's Schultz plays in Sandburg Women's Invite

(Galesburg, IL) - For the first time in school history a Waubonsee Community College golfer participated in the Carl Sandburg College Women's Invite. The Chiefs' Emilee Schultz, a freshman from Kaneland High School, posted a score of 122 at the Lake Bracken Country Club golf course in Galesburg. Schultz was one of 29 golfers from nine different junior colleges who competed in the event on August 26. The Sugar Grove resident consistently strung together solid shots with her driver, but like many of the other participants, struggled on the lightning fast and undulating greens with only 12 golfers carding sub-100 scores. Sandburg's Ava Hackman took medalist honors with an 84, while the College of DuPage's Ivy Burnett finished just one stroke back. In addition to Waubonsee, Sandburg and DuPage, the remainder of the field consisted of golfers from Oakton Community College, Kishwaukee College, Joliet Community College, Danville Area Community College and Southeastern Community College in Iowa.
