(Charlotte, NC) - Waubonsee Community College's Alyssa Perkins was named the NJCAA Division II Softball Player of the Week for the third week of April. The Chiefs' freshman first baseman batted an even .500 going 16 for 32 with a phenomenal 23 runs batted in over 10 games played. Waubonsee's right-handed clean-up hitter slugged five home runs, including a grand slam, and ripped four doubles on the way to posting a 1.094 slugging percentage. Perkins also compiled a .611 on-base percentage in helping the Chiefs (17-17) go 7-3 during the week. On the season the Aurora West High School product is batting .409 with a team-leading 44 runs driven in while earning four wins in the circle as a pitcher.
