Chiefs down MVCC for Unger's 100th win at Waubonsee

(Palos Hills, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College head coach Brad Unger picked up his 100th career collegiate coaching victory as the visiting Chiefs downed Moraine Valley Community College 7-2. In his fourth season at the helm of Waubonsee's program, Unger's record stands at 100-80-1 overall. The Chiefs (17-8, 4-3) picked up the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference victory by scoring three runs in the top of the first and two more in the second to take a commanding 5-1 lead early in the game. On yet another chilly April day in northern Illinois, Chiefs' starting pitcher Jordan Isham kept the Cyclones' bats on ice over seven innings of work to earn the victory.

The Chiefs utilized three walks, a hit batsmen and a two-run double by Joshua Meyers to score three times in the first frame. Waubonsee pushed across two more runs in the second on a wild pitch and a run-scoring single by Garrett Goetz. That was more than enough run support for Isham who allowed just one earned run on five hits over seven innings pitched. The freshman right-handed hurler struck out five, walked one and hit three batters en route to picking up his third win of the season. Meyers, Goetz, Dolan Nicholson and Keagan Cordone all registered two hits, while Aaron Lange knocked in two runs to lead Waubonsee's offense.
