(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Trailing 7-0 in the fifth inning Waubonsee Community College rallied to win the opener 9-7. The Chiefs then used that momentum to complete a sweep their Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Moraine Valley Community College by downing the visiting Cyclones 9-4 in game two. Waubonsee (27-19, 10-9) scored five times in the bottom of the fifth and four more in the sixth to stun Moraine Valley in the first game. Arik Applebee's two-out, two strike, bases-loaded triple to the center field fence put the Chiefs in front 8-7. Jordan Isham earned the pitching victory in relief, keeping the Cyclones (15-23, 7-12) off the scoreboard over the final two innings to improve to 5-2 on the spring. A run-scoring double by Justin Sartori and a two-run single to center by Aaron Lange highlighted the Chiefs' five-run fifth. Dolan Nicholson went 3 for 4 with a run scored to pace the Chiefs' offense.  

In the second game Moraine Valley again jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the first off Isham, who started after closing the opener. Waubonsee responded in their half of the first with five runs and never relinquished the lead after that. Applebee again stroked the key hit, slashing a two-run double over the left fielder's head as the Chiefs tallied five runs before the first out was even registered. The Cyclones chipped away at the deficit and loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth trailing 6-3. Sartori came on in relief of Isham and shut the door, after allowing a run-scoring single to center, to preserve a 6-4 lead and earn his first save. The Chiefs got some much needed insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth scoring three runs on a bloop single to center. With two outs and a full count Chase Hartleben lofted a ball to shallow center with the runners on the move. The ball dropped between three Cyclones converging on the area and richochetted away as Isham came all the way around from first to score the Chiefs' ninth run. Isham picked up his second win of the day, improving to 6-2 overall on the season by scatttering 10 hits, striking out five and walking only one. Joshua Meyers finished the game 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Garrett Goetz went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored.
