(Sugar Grove, IL.) - South Suburban College scored early and often on the way to blasting the Chiefs 26-1 in seven innings. The near record-setting drubbing was Waubonsee Community College's second worst defeat in the program's storied history. The Bulldogs (24-17) rapped out 21 hits off five Chiefs' pitchers, also taking advantage of seven walks, five hit batsmen, four errors and a balk. The 26 runs allowed were tied for the second most surrendered in a game since Waubonsee baseball began in 1968. The College of Lake County scored 27 runs against the Chiefs in a game back in 1995. The 25 run margin of defeat also goes down as the second most lopsided loss, only surpassed by a 26-0 loss to McHenry County College on April 27, 2018. The Chiefs' record for most runs scored in a game is also against South Suburban, when Waubonsee downed the Bulldogs 32-25 back in 2004.

The Bulldogs first seven batters of the contest reached base and eventually came around to score to make it 7-0 before the Chiefs (21-18) even came to bat. Waubonsee avoided the shutout by pushing across a run in the bottom of the second. Justin Lee drew a walk to lead off the inning, before Frank Dixon laid down a drag bunt, beating South Suburban's first baseman to the bag for an infield hit. Dustin Imanaka then drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Moments later Lee scored when Mark Sommers barely beat the throw to first on a potential double-play grounder to the second baseman. South Suburban starting pitcher Daniel Cryan escaped any additional harm by getting Garrett Goetz to fly out deep to center field to end the inning.

South Suburban officially blew the game open by scoring four times in the fourth to take a 12-1 lead, highlighted by a two-run triple to left centerfield by Andrew Olszewski. The Bulldogs then tacked on five more runs in the fifth aided by a trio of Chiefs' errors. A spectacular diving catch in right center field by Dixon prevented two more runs from scoring in the frame as South Suburban went ahead 17-1. Waubonsee threatened again in the fifth by loading the bases with just one out. However, Cryan got Justin Sartori to bounce into an inning ending double play.

The Bulldogs then batted around in the top of the sixth, the third time in the game that they sent more than nine batters to the plate in an inning. South Suburban booked five hits and took advantage of three hit batters, a walk and another error to score seven more runs to move into record setting territory. The onslaught continued into the seventh as South Suburban scored two more times before stranding runners at second and third. Sommers was the lone bright spot for the Chiefs, finishing the game 2 for 4 with a run driven in. Olszewski finished the game 5 for 5 with a double, a triple, six runs batted in, four scored and was hit by a pitch to lead the Bulldogs' barrage.
