(Charlotte, NC) - Waubonsee Community College's Hogan McIntosh was selected to the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball All-American Third Team. The Chiefs' catcher was one of just 36 individuals out of over 2,200 Division III baseball players from across the country to earn this distinction. McIntosh batted .386 overall with 19 doubles, which placed him 13th nationally among all Division III players in two-baggers. A freshman from Bondurant-Farrar High School in Mitchellville, Iowa, he drove in a team-leading 45 runs and posted a .608 slugging percentage.
A right-handed hitter, McIntosh also smacked a pair of triples and four home runs, compiled a .441 on-base percentage, scored 35 runs, and even stole 10 bases. He took over the Chiefs' catching duties early in the season and never looked back. Over 49 games the 6'3" 215-pound backstop had 28 assists and made just five errors while recording a .985 fielding percentage. He was eighth nationally in chances with 336 and ninth in putouts with 303. In addition, earlier this spring McIntosh was named to the All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) Second Team and the All-Region IV First Team for his performance on the field.
After a 6-0 start, the Chiefs slumped midway through the season before regrouping. Coach Brad Unger's squad finished the season 30-23 overall, winning seven of their final 10 games to reach 30 or more wins for the third time in the last four years. McIntosh helped the Chiefs reach the Region IV Division III title game before they eventually fell 10-7 to Oakton Community College, which went on to place fifth at the NJCAA Division III World Series. Waubonsee also went 11-9 in ISCC play to finish fourth in the eight-team league.
