Chiefs remain unblemished in ISCC with blowout win over PSC

(Sugar Grove, IL.) –  Waubonsee Community College remained undefeated and on top of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) standings with a 79-51 win over Prairie State College. The Chiefs, now 15-7 overall and 7-0 in ISCC play, pulled away in the second half. Waubonsee scored 40 points in the paint and dominated the Pioneers on the boards 42-19 for the game.

Josh McAuley scored nine of Waubonsee's initial 11 points to get the Chiefs going. Not long afterwards Waubonsee grabbed a 20-8 lead and looked poised to run Prairie State out of the gym. However, the Chiefs went scoreless the last five minutes of the half as the Pioneers battled back to trail only 29-22 at halftime.

The Chiefs opened the second half with a 13-5 run to open up a 42-27 lead. Waubonsee maintained a comfortable 15 to 18 point advantage throughout much of the second half. The Chiefs then closed out the final six minutes of the contest with a 16-0 run to blow the game open. A long three-pointer by the Pioneers' Tyler Houston in the waning seconds closed out the scoring.

McAuley led Waubonsee with a double-double, booking 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Cory Adams Jr. tallied 10 points, Collman Aaron added nine points, Kriston Dixon chipped in with eight points and four assists, and Bradlee Mills also contributed eight points in the victory. Prairie State's Jataryan Dejareaux led all scorers with 23 points before fouling out with seven minutes remaining.
