(Sugar Grove, IL.) - It was the tale of two completely different halves as visiting Madison (WI) College rallied from a 22-point halftime deficit to capture a stunning 108-95 victory over Waubonsee Community College. The Chiefs (2-3) led by as many as 25 points late in the first half, shooting 57 percent (21 of 37) from the floor while making eight three-pointers to grab a 55-33 halftime lead. The Wolfpack (4-4) then flipped the script in a big way en route to shooting a sizzling 76 percent (28 of 37) and scoring 75 second half points to rally for the win. Meanwhile the Chiefs went cold, shooting just 18 percent (3 of 18 ) from long range while struggling to break Madison's full-court pressure defense. For the game the Wolfpack also out rebounded the Chiefs 51-32, including a 17-9 advantage on the offensive end of the floor.

Cam Irvin sparked the Chiefs' offense in the first half, connecting on a trio of long range three-pointers and netting 14 first half points. Waubonsee went on an 11-2 run midway through the first period to separate from the Wolfpack. The Chiefs then went on a 12-3 run, capped off by an Irvin three-pointer to grab their biggest lead at 51-26 with 2:27 to go until the break. A minute into the second half the Chiefs again led by 25 as Asa Williams drilled a three from the right corner. The Wolfpack then began to hound Waubonsee more defensively and suddenly got on track offensively at the same time. A 16-2 run over three minutes of play trimmed the deficit to 11 points at 62-51. A few minutes later Madison then put together a 12-0 run to pull within four at 70-66 with still 12 minutes remaining. They eventaully caught the cold shooting Chiefs at 77-all with eight minutes left in the game. Waubonsee went scoreless over the next four minutes while the Wolfpack vaulted into the lead on a two-handed dunk by Shamar Newman. Madison extended its lead to 85-79 with five minutes to go before the Chiefs were able to get back on track. An inside basket by Courtney Fields pulled Waubonsee to within a point at 87-86 with 3:48 remaining. However, the Wolfpack nailed 9 of their next 11 free throw attempts to slowly pull away. 

Williams paced Waubonsee with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Irvin made four long range shots on his way to booking 21 points for the game as well. Fields added 19 points, six boards and four assists, while Cory Adams Jr. nailed three treys and Caleb Siler made three steals in the loss. Madison's Allen Robinson led all scorers with 26 points, Newman chipped in with 24 points, and Dayton Coleman posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Chiefs are in action again this coming Saturday, November 23 when they travel to Glen Ellyn to take on the College of DuPage starting at 2:00 p.m. Waubonsee is set to return home to Erickson Hall on Monday, November 25 when they host Benedictine University's Junior Varsity beginning at 7:00 p.m.
