(Sugar Grove, IL) – Waubonsee Community College men's basketball team improved to 4-3 overall on the season with an 90-76 win over Benedictine University's Junior Varsity in a rare Monday night contest. Outside of a thirty second span in the second minute of the game, the Chiefs led the entire way despite being out rebounded by the Eagles 47-35. Waubonsee shot 48 percent (29 of 60) from the floor and 82 percent (22 of 27) from the foul line to make up for it. The Chiefs' bench also out scored the Eagles' reserves 47-27 for the game.

Waubonsee's Collmann Aaron nailed a three-pointer from the top of the key to start the scoring.  Five minutes later Aaron repeated that feat, nailing another trey from about the same spot to give the Chiefs a 16-8 lead. A pull-up, 12-foot jumper by Cam Irvin put Waubonsee in front 24-13 midway through the first half. A driving lay-in by Cory Adams Jr. a minute later extended the lead to 28-13 and prompted a Benedictine timeout. The Chiefs led by as many as 20 points (38-18) before the Eagles clawed their way to within seven at 44-37 by the break.

Benedictine got within a point (47-46) three minutes into the second period on a lay-up in traffic by Jordan Guy.  Waubonsee responded with a 15-5 run to push the lead back to double-digits and get a little breathing room with 12 minutes remaining. The Chiefs maintained that cushion over the next seven minutes of play and extended their advantage to 76-61 on a three-pointer by D.J. Ellis with five minutes to go. The Eagles never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Ellis led Waubonsee's balanced attack with 16 points to go along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Five other Chiefs' players also reached double figures in scoring with Irvin booking 14 points, making seven of eight foul shots. Caleb Siler chipped in with 13 points and seven boards, while Courtney Fields added 11 points and hauled down seven rebounds as well. Adams and Marlon Anderson pitched in with 10 points apiece, and Asa Williams snagged five rebounds. Benedictine's Marvin Agwomoh led all scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Chiefs are in action again on Wednesday evening when they travel to Rockford to take on Rockford University's Junior Varsity starting at 5:30 p.m. Waubonsee returns home next Tuesday, December 3 when they host Milwaukee (WI) Area Technical College at 7:30 p.m. , with the women tipping off that evening at 5:30 p.m. Both those games can be seen 'live' on-line at www.Waubonsee.edu/LiveSports or at www.GoChiefs.com
