Niesman eyes 1,000-Point Club

(Sugar Grove, IL) - Waubonsee Community College's Joey Niesman is quickly closing in on the Chiefs' 1,000-Point Club. The 6'2" guard is just 22 points away from reaching the milestone in a Chiefs' uniform with two regular season games remaining. Niesman tallied 22 points Tuesday evening in Waubonsee's 69-61 victory at Elgin Community College. On the season the Oswego, Illinois native is averaging a team-leading 17.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Niesman is also averaging 6.6 rebounds per contest, is shooting 45 percent from the field and 73.8 percent from the foul line. Over 60 career games played at Waubonsee, the sophomore is averaging 16.3 points a game.

Niesman will look to join the Chiefs' 1K-Club either this coming Thursday or Saturday as Waubonsee plays its' final two Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference games. Coach Lance Robinson's squad is set to play their final regular season home game this coming Thursday, February 23 when they welcome Oakton Community College to Erickson Hall Gymnasium at 7:15 p.m. The Chiefs' final game of the season is Saturday, February 25 when they head to south suburban Cicero to battle Morton College in a 3:00 p.m. contest that was postponed last Thursday.
