Niesman newest 1,000-Point Club member

(Cicero, IL) – Waubonsee Community College's Joey Niesman became a member of the men's basketball program's 1,000-Point Club on Saturday afternoon. Needing just seven points, the 6'2" sophomore guard scored 25 points in leading the Chiefs to an 89-83 victory at Morton College in the regular season finale for both teams. The Oswego High School graduate drilled a 12-foot turn around jumpshot in the first half to eclipse the 1,000-point threshhold in his Waubonsee career. Averaging 17.5 points-per-game in the 29 games he's played this season, Niesman has now scored 1,018 points over 62 career contests in a Chiefs' uniform.

Besides Niesman, Waubonsee got solid contributions from their other core four in the victory over the Panthers (16-13). Point guard Duane Doss tallied 18 points and 6'10" center Brice Langford registered 16 points. Jaylyn Kelley also booked 16 points, including going 7 for 7 from the foul line down the stretch to clinch the victory. Colton Schutt came off the bench to contribute 10 points as well. The win solidified the Chiefs' hold on third place in the final Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) standings with a 9-5 record. Coach Lance Robinson's squad received the #4 seed for the upcoming Region 4 Division II District 3 Tournament. The Chiefs (22-8) are set to host #5 seed Illinois Valley Community College (12-18) this coming Thursday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. in a first round match-up. Waubonsee downed Illinois Valley 82-66 on November 10 in Oglesby as Niesman paced four Chiefs players to reach double figures with 20 points.
