Chiefs 6th at Skyhawk Classic, Hed finishes 4th

(Rock Falls, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College finished sixth at the two-day, 36-hole Sauk Valley Skyhawk Classic. The Chiefs shot just a 326 on Friday at the Lake Carroll Golf Course in Lanark to place fifth among the nine teams participating. On Saturday Waubonsee turned in a 311 at the Rock River Golf Course to come in sixth for the day. The Chiefs' two-day total of 637 put them in sixth place in the final team standings. Black Hawk College won the team title with a two-day total of 623, finishing five shots ahead of Sauk Valley. Waubonsee's Jake Hed posted two solid rounds to finish tied for fourth on the leaderboard, while teammate Jackson Clark rallied on Saturday to place ninth overall.

Hed, a sophomore from Kaneland High School, fired a 3-over par 75 on day one and a 76 on Saturday to finish five strokes back of the top spot with a two-day total of 151. Black Hawk College's Rielly McGranahan won the inidividual title with a 146 after carding an even par 70 during Saturday's round. McGranahan edged his fellow Black Hawk teammate Jake Luett by two strokes. After finishing Friday with a disappointing 82, Waubonsee's Jackson Clark finished second on Saturday with a 1-over par 71 to end with a two-day total of 153. The Chiefs' Andrew Nelson turned in rounds of 81 and 80 for a 161 total, while Aaron Collmann finished with an 88 and an 84 for a two-day count of 172. Jake Thayer carded a 180, Erik Lenertz finished with a 193 and Carter Imel turned in a 201 to round out Waubonsee's participants.

The Chiefs are in action again this coming Wednesday, September 19 when they travel up to the north suburbs to compete in the third Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) match of the season at Pine Meadow Golf Course in Mundelein. The ISCC match, hosted by the College of Lake County, will tee off at 12:30 p.m. (CST).
