Velazquez earns medalist honors, Chiefs place 2nd at Blackberry Oaks

(Bristol, IL) – Waubonsee Community College's Men's Golf team hosted the third match of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) schedule. On a beautiful fall afternoon at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol on Monday, the Chiefs carded a team total of 338 to place second overall. Waubonsee's Austen Velazquez led the way by earning medalist honors, rallying on the back nine holes by firing a sizzling 32 to finish with a 1-over par 73 to edge the College of Lake County's Trevor Brandon by two shots.

Lake County took the top spot with a team total of 315, while Moraine Valley Community College was third with a 343, Elgin Community College was fourth with a score of 373 and Oakton Community College was fifth with a total of 376. Individually, the Chiefs' Ben Gorski tallied an 86, Tony LoPresti finished with an 89 and Branson Vahl carded a 90 to account for Waubonsee's team total. In addition, Kade Witt ended his round with a 92 and Dylan Krol posted a 102 for the Chiefs.   

Waubonsee is in action again this coming Wednesday, September 23 when they partake in the fourth ISCC match of the 2020 season. Hosted by Moraine Valley, the match will be held at legendary Cog Hill Golf Course in Lemont beginning at 12:30 p.m.
