Chiefs finish 3rd in ISCC opener, CLC's Golding sets mark with 65

(Bristol, IL) – Waubonsee Community College hosted the opening match of the 2021 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) Men's Golf season on a sweltering hot Wednesday afternoon at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course. The heat definitely took its' toll on most of the participants as they traversed the par-72 course in Bristol with a heat index of nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the conditions did not faze the College of Lake County's Max Golding who carded an ISCC record 7-under par 65 to help lead the Lancers to the team title with a score of 302. Moraine Valley Community College placed second with a total of 327, while Waubonsee finished third in the team standings with a score of 344.

Trevor Meyer paced Waubonsee's golfers, firing a 6-over par 78 to finish third overall on the leaderboard. The freshman from Batavia posted a 37 on the front nine and a 41 on the backside of the course. Sophomore Tony LoPresti carded a 12-over par 84 overall. The Aurora Central Catholic High School product finished with a 43 on the front nine holes before tallying a 41 on the back nine. Chiefs' freshman John Wojcik posted an 89 overall, shooting a 43 on the front nine and 46 over the final nine holes. Michael Elliott tallied a 93 overall, falling off the pace on the back nine by shooting a 50, while Waubonsee's Branson Vahl was forced to withdraw.

Coach Dave Heiss' Chiefs are set to compete again next Wednesday, September 1 in the second ISCC match of the season hosted by the College of Lake County. The teams will begin teeing off at 12:30 p.m. at Pine Meadows Golf Course in north suburban Mundelein.
