Chiefs Golfers open ISCC season

(Beach Park, IL) - Waubonsee Community College golfers opened their 2022 season with a third place finish in the first Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) match of the fall. The Chiefs, under the direction of first-year coach Dusty Darnold, carded a team total of 382 on the tough 7,200-yard Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course at the Thunderhawk Golf Course in north suburban Beach Park. It was definitely a learning experience for Darnold's young crew playing the unfamiliar course for the first time ever. Waubonsee was led by freshman Gavin Woods, who turned in an 87. Kaneland graduate Cody Ganzon scored a 91, Isaac McCumber carded a 96, Dylan Krol finished with a 108 and Parker Wrecenyar finished with a 116. The host school, the College of Lake County, won the match with a team total of 324. The Lancers' Jake Treumo shot a 5-over par 77 to take medalist honors on the day. The Chiefs are action again next Wednesday, August 31 when they travel to West Dundee for the second ISCC match of the season. Hosted by Elgin Community College, the match at Randall Oaks Golf Course is set to begin at noon.
