Chiefs' Golfers close out ISCC schedule

(Bristol, IL) - On a crisp, but sunny fall afternoon Waubonsee Community College golfers closed out the 2022 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) schedule on Wednesday just as they have all season. The Chiefs, hosting the sixth and final match at nearby Blackberry Oaks Golf Course, finished third in the team scoring for the sixth time with a score of 349. Led by ISCC Medalist winner Eddie Winkleman's 2-over par 74, the College of Lake County posted a team total of 318 to win the day and cruise to the league title by taking the top spot in five of the six matches. Coach Dusty Darnold's Chiefs were led by Cody Ganzon who carded a 7-over par 79 to finish seventh overall on the league leaderboard to earn All-ISCC honors. Gavin Woods fired an 83 and finished just two strokes shy of earning All-ISCC recognition. Isaac McCumber booked a 91 and Dylan Krol finished with a 96 to round out the Chiefs' scoring. Parker Wrecenyar tallied a 107, Garrett Grastorf posted a 97 and Carson Brown shot an even 100 to round out Waubonsee's participants.    

The Chiefs are set to compete in the three-day, 54-hole Region IV Division II District C Tournament beginning on Thursday, October 6 at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron, Illinois. The top-15 finishers will qualify for the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana from May 23-26, 2023.
