Chiefs golfers close out ISCC slate

(W. Dundee, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College golfers closed out the 2024 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) schedule at Randall Oaks Golf Course. The Chiefs placed fourth in the team standing of the final ISCC match of the fall season, which was hosted by Elgin Community College. Waubonsee' s Kyle Ryan carded an 81 on the day to finish with an averge score of 80.0 over the five ISCC matches, placing him seventh overall to earn All-ISCC honors. Justin Winters posted an 87, Joey Barbush turned in an 88, Ryder Zeluff finished with a 96 and Nicholas Sachse booked a 101 to round out the Chiefs' participants. 

Oakton Community College tallied a team score of 305 to take the top spot and sweep all five conference matches to easily capture the ISCC title for the second straight year. The Owls also swept the individual awards as Matthew Smith won Player of the Year honors with a 71.75 average, while his teammates Dan Allegretti and Ryan Belz were second and third, respectively. Head coach Louis Walker was subsequently named the ISCC Golf Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Coach Dave Stephens' Chiefs are set to play in the Joliet Junior College Invite on October 1 to close out the 2024 fall season. Waubonsee will then compete this coming spring for the first time, playing in a handful of matches leading up to the Region 4 Tournament, which will be held at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron, Illinois on April 27, 28 and 29. The four-day, 2025 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship Tournament will be held at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana from May 20 through 23.
