Chiefs pull away in second half for 6th straight win

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College's men's soccer team continues to roll along. The Chiefs shutout visiting Daley College 5-0 to run their winning streak to six games. Waubonsee, 6-0-1 overall on the season, wore down the Bulldogs and pulled away in the second half. A goal late in the first half by Michael Waclaw off an assist from Edgar Esquivel Lopez sent the Chiefs into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Waubonsee then took control in the second half and scored four more times to put the match out of reach. Esquivel scored just three minutes into the second half with an assist from Jose Gallegos. Midway through the period Gustavo Anguiano scored off of a feed from Esquivel to put the Chiefs up 3-0. Waclaw then netted a second goal on a penalty kick with 14 minutes left to play. Angel Saltijeral joined in with his first goal of the season with a minute left to cap the scoring. Salvador Gonzalez was credited with the win in goal for Waubonsee, recording just one save as the Chiefs' defense was never threatened. Waubonsee will next be in action on Tuesday, September 18 when they travel to the College of Lake County in Grayslake to play an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference match.
