Chiefs rout Truman, move to 9-1-1

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Coming off of a tough, storm shortened 2-1 loss to Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference rival Moraine Valley, the Chiefs took out their frustration on visiting Harry S. Truman College. Waubonsee routed the Falcons 12-0 as both Jose Alfaro Jr. and Edgar Esquivel Lopez scored four goals and each had two assists to lead the way. The Chiefs, who improved to 9-1-1 overall, took an insurmountable 11-0 lead heading into halftime. In a span of just over four minutes early in the match Waubonsee scored five times to break it open.

Michael Waclaw scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Lopez in the sixth minute of play. Just seventeen seconds later Lopez notched his first goal as Waclaw returned the favor with the first of his three assists on the day. Forty-three second later Alfaro booked his first goal of the match off an assist from Lopez to make it 3-0. Two minutes later Alfaro scored again as Waclaw was credited with the assist. The two teamed up once more only a minute later as Alfaro completed a 'hat trick' tallying his 10th goal of the season while Waclaw recorded his ninth save.

Lopez scored his second goal of the match at the 13-minute mark with an assist from Alfaro. A minute later Waclaw made it 7-0 Waubonsee with his second goal of the game and seventh on the season. Just two minutes after that Lopez booked a 'hat trick' with his third goal off an assist from Alfaro. In the 18th minute Adrian Bravo Cobian found the back of the next with an assist from Arnold Arevalo to put the Chiefs in front 9-0. Alfaro scored his fourth goal of the game in the 29th minute as Gustavo Anguiano registered the assist. Lopez then finished off the first half scoring with his fourth goal with an assist from Cobian to make it 11-0 Chiefs with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Waubonsee played keep away for much of the rest of the match. The Chiefs' Angel Saltijeral scored the only second half goal in the 70th minute with an assist from Remzi Ahmeti. For the match Waubonsee out shot the Falcons 25-3 as Chiefs' keeper Christopher Rubio was credited with three saves in the shutout win.

Waubonsee is in action again this coming Saturday, September 29 when the Chiefs host South Suburban College (5-4-0) at 1:30 p.m. (CST). Coach Brad Schlemmer's undefeated women's team will also play the Bulldogs, kicking off at 11:00 a.m. on the Chiefs' home pitch.
