Chiefs open season with win over Bryant & Stratton

(Sugar Grove, IL) - Waubonsee Community College's men's soccer team started the 2019 season with a convincing 5-0 victory over Bryant & Stratton College from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Chiefs (1-0-0) pulled away in the second half to cruise to the victory in the first meeting between the two schools on a soccer pitch. The Bobcats (0-1-0), in just their second year of soccer competiton, managed only one shot on goal for the entire match compared to 14 for the Chiefs. Waubonsee's Manuel Magana got the scoring started just two and half minutes into the season when he took an assist from Alejandro Arevalo and booted it past the Bobcats keeper. The Chiefs maintained that slim lead throughout the first half before adding to it just a minute into the second period. Andy Emile tallied an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 and give Waubonsee a little breathiung room. Fifteen minutes later Jose Munoz scored his first goal off an assist from Magana. Just three minutes after that Munoz struck again, notching his second goal with an assist from Dante Sosa to break things open. Waubonsee added a fifth goal with three minutes remaining when Arevalo scored off a nice pass from Librado Olivares. Chiefs' keeper Diego Daniel turned back just one shot in recording the shutout win.
