Gibran Rodriguez enters his 10th season with the Chiefs’ Coaching Staff. Coach "G-Bo" served as the main Assistant Coach for eight years and has also been in a Volunteer Assistant Coach role for two seasons. Rodriguez is a former Chiefs’ student-athlete and brings to the program an extensive soccer background, knowledge and the discipline to help keep Waubonsee at an elite level. As a matter of fact, he helped develop the Aurora Borealis Soccer Club which just finished up their second minor league season in the Premier League of America. Rodriguez continues to serve as the Borealis’ Vice-President of Operations. 

Rodriguez is a 2002 graduate of Aurora East High School. He played on the Tomcats’ varsity soccer squad his freshman and sophomore years, earning All-Upstate Eight honors as a sophomore in 1998. His junior year he switched sides of the Fox River and was an All-Conference and All-Sectional performer for Aurora West High School. Before his senior year the midfielder joined the Atlas Futbol Club based in Guadalajara, Mexico. Rodriguez played for Atlas’ U-17 and U-20 squads, and participated in tryouts for the United States U-20 team in 2000. After another season in Mexico with the Zapotlanejo Futbol Club’s U-20 team, he returned to Aurora to finish high school.    

After graduation Rodriguez enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2006. He left the military in 2008 and enrolled at Waubonsee, where he was a midfielder for the Chiefs in 2010 and 2011. The Aurora native earned a Certificate of Industrial Maintenance from Waubonsee. Rodriguez is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Northern Illinois University.
