Chiefs Compete at Olde English Invite in Beloit

(Beloit, WI) - Waubonsee Community College Cross Country runners participated in the Beloit College Olde English Invite on Satruday, October 2. The Chiefs and the host school were joined by Indiana University-Northwest as the three teams traversed the course laid out at Leeson Park on the east side of Beloit. Waubonsee's men captured the team title with a score of 20 points to hold off Beloit which finished with 36 points. The two schools traded spots in the women's race with Beloit taking the top spot with a score of 21 points, while Waubonsee came in second with 41 points.

Individually, for the Chiefs' men Dalton Klingensmith placed second with a time of 30:44. Tony LoPresti was right behind him in third place just four second later. Jacob Weissensel finished fourth in a time of 31:51, while Xander Lundblad took sixth covering the 8K course in a time of 34:36. The Chiefs' Nate Lundquist came in 11th, with teammate Joshua Branstad crossing the finish line only four seconds behind him in 12th place. Justin Gallegos rounded out Waubonsee's participants by placing 17th overall.

In the women's 6K race Elly Kuhn came in second overall, posting a time of 28:04. Melia Perry finished fifth, while America Chavez placed 11th and Samantha Garcia was 13th. A trio of Chiefs' runners finished in order as Ellery Patterson came in 15th, Payton Heiden placed 16th and Nicole Harrison crossed the finish line in 17th place. 

Coach Rebecca Goldsmith's crew is set to compete again this coming Saturday, October 9 when they travel to Dixon to take part in Sauk Valley Community College's Skyhawk Invitational. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 11:15 a.m.
