(Cuba City, WI) - Waubonsee Community Colllege Cross Country runners competed at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Pioneer Gender Equity Invitational on Saturday. The Chiefs' men's team placed 10th with a team score of 307 as one of only two junior colleges competing amongst a field made up of NCAA Division III four-year schools. Logan Cunz paced coach Eric Baron's squad finishing 54th in a time of 29:47 over the 8K course laid out on the Cole Acres Golf Course. Dayton Beatty was not far behind im in 58th place, while Owen Kroeyr came in 64th. Finn Gannon trimmed a minute off his previous best time to cross the finish line right behind him in 65th place, and Huitzi Del Real rounded out the Chiefs' scoring by placing 66th. Ricardo Duran ended up 67th and Clayton Burnett was 68th for Waubonsee. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the team title with 38 points to edge out the host school by 11 points. Oshkosh's Paul Proteau won the men's race in a time of 25:14 coming in 14 seconds ahead of his teammate Joseph Kehoe.
Waubonsee had just three women's runners participate and did not qualify in the team scoring. Rose Dallal placed 54 for Waubonsee covering the 6K course in a time of 27:40. Megan Johnson finished 78th overall and Abbigail Placido finished 108th. Oshkosh won the women's team title with 37 points to easily beat out second place Ripon (WI) College's 56 point total. Harper College's Lilly Alberts won the women's race with a time of 23:41, holding off Ripon's Ali Denamur by seven seconds.
