Chiefs begin quest for 8th straight ISCC title with walk-off win

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College's softball team began their quest for the program's eighth straight Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title with a 3-2 walk-off victory over visiting McHenry County College. The Chiefs scored a pair of runs in the second inning to take an early lead. The Scots then tied it in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Paige Schultz. Waubonsee then began its' game-winning rally with two outs and no one on base in the bottom of the seventh. Destinee Corral singled to center and then Tori Isom bounced one to short that was bobbled for an error to put runners at first and second. Claire Avery followed with a shot to right field that was misplayed to allow the winning-run to score. Nicole Krupp earned the pitching victory, scattering six hits over seven frames with four strikeouts and one walk allowed. Brittany Thomas finished 2 for 3 in the game, and Ally Miller ripped a double as Waubonsee managed only five hits.
