Chiefs drop game two as McHenry earns a split

(Sugar Grove, IL.) -  Clinging to a slim 1-0 lead entering the fourth inning, the Chiefs and their faithful could not have imagined what was about to transpire. McHenry County College erupted for nine runs over the next two frames to earn a split of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference twinbill with a 9-1 victory. Waubonsee's Megan Arcivar had allowed only a walk and an infield single in shutting down the Scots in the game's initial three innings. However, a pair of Chiefs' errors led to a three-run fourth for McHenry. The Scots then scored six more runs in the fifth to reach the eight-run after five innings slaughter rule. Arcivar finished the game with a pair of hits, including a double. Tori Isom accounted for the Chiefs' lone run with a solo home run to right center field to lead off the third inning.
