Chiefs salvage split against Bryant & Stratton

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - After dropping the opener 11-6, Waubonsee Community College earned a split of their doubleheader with Bryant and Stratton College by pounding the Bobcats 10-2 in five innings. The Chiefs (11-19) recorded 14 hits in the second game, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after one inning. Nicole Krupp got Waubonsee going by smacking a solo home run to right center, her 14th of the year. A two-run double by Natalya Flowers capped off the five-run frame. Tori Isom later drilled a three-run homer to straight away center in the fourth to put the Chiefs up by eight runs. Isom finished the game 3 for 3 with four runs batted, while Flowers went 3 for 3 with three runs knocked in. Autumn Sullivan had a pair of hits, including a double, and Destinee Corral also registered a pair of hits. Krupp got the win in the circle, allowing one earned run over four innings pitched. 

In the opener the visitors from Milwaukee jumped ahead 7-4 with a four-run fourth inning. A two-run homer by Sullivan in the fifth got the Chiefs within a run before the Bobcats pulled away by scoring two in the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh. Sullivan finished the contest 4 for 4 with three runs batted in, two scored and a double to go along with her eighth home run of the season. Flowers went 3 for 4 in the game, while Krupp and Isom each went 2 for 4 with a double. Julia Penman took the pitching loss.
