
(Sugar Grove, IL.) – Waubonsee Community College has chosen Hannah Tomasko to be the Chiefs' new softball head coach. She will take the reins of the program from long-time coach Joe Spitzzeri who retired at the conclusion of the 2024 spring season. Tomasko brings a winning pedigree, energy and plenty of softball experience to the Chiefs' dugout. She was a standout collegiate pitcher and scholar-athlete at Aurora University, and has served as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA Division III level working as a pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and first base coach.
Tomasko graduated in 2017 from North Mac High School in south central Illinois, where she competed in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She went on to have a stellar collegiate softball career for the Spartans, as a three-time All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) First Team honoree and four-time NACC scholar-athlete. Tomasko won 61 games and struck out 548 batters during her time in the circle for the Spartans, and was named Second Team All-American and Great Lakes First Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) her senior year. She was also tabbed the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, AU's Female Athlete of the Year and a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2021.
