Hannah Tomasko takes over the Chiefs’ Softball program from long-time coach Joe Spitzzeri who retired at the conclusion of the 2024 spring season. She brings a winning pedigree, fresh energy and plenty of softball experience to the Chiefs’ dugout. Tomasko was a standout collegiate pitcher and scholar student-athlete, and has served as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA Division III level the last three years.

Tomasko graduated in 2017 from North Mac High School in south central Virden, Illinois, where she competed in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She went on to have a stellar softball career at nearby Aurora University (AU). A three-time All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) First Team honoree and four-time NACC scholar-athlete, Tomasko won 61 games and struck out 548 batters during her time in the circle for the Spartans.

Her senior season in 2021 was her best as she went 21-3 with 11 shutouts, two saves and a 1.04 earned-run-average. Tomasko struck out 174 batters over 155 and a third innings, holding opponents to a .177 batting average against her. Subsequently she was named Second Team All-American and Great Lakes First Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Tomasko was tabbed the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, AU’s Female Athlete of the Year and a CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Tomasko majored in Accounting and Finance, with a minor in Coaching while at Aurora. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Administration at Aurora and served as the Spartans’ Assistant Coach for a year. She was the University of Dubuque’s Assistant Coach the last two years, working as the Spartans pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and first base coach.
