Chiefs Beebe named the NJCAA Player of the Week.

(Charlotte, NC) - Waubonsee Community College's Katie Beebe was named the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the final week of November. The Chiefs' 6'0" power forward scored 50 points and hauled down 48 rebounds in three Waubonsee victories during the week to win the national award. The freshman from Oswego High School also blocked nine shots, made seven steals and handed out six assists over just 68 minutes played in the three games.

Beebe booked a dozen points and snagged a school single-game record 22 boards in a win over Sauk Valley on Nov. 27 to eclipse the Chiefs' mark of 21 done twice by Karen Lewis in 1980 and by Nancy White in 1981. Two days later she scored 22 points and hauled down 20 rebounds in only 25 minutes of action as the Chiefs trounced the College of DuPage. She finished off the week by netting 16 points and grabbing six rebounds, despite being limited to 18 minutes of action due to foul trouble in a road win at Milwaukee (WI.) Area Technical College.

Among all NJCAA Division II players Beebe is currently third nationally in blocked shots with 28, tied for ninth in offensive rebounds with 49 and 13th in total boards with 103. For the season she is averaging 11.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per contest. Beebe is also shooting 54 percent (57 of 106) from the floor in helping lead the Chiefs to a 7-4 record thus far.
