Cerda leads Chiefs to season opening win over Joliet

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College's women's soccer team got their 2018 season off to a good start. The Chiefs routed visiting Joliet Junior College 9-3 behind four goals by freshman Isabel Cerda. The Plainfield South graduate also had an assist in Waubonsee's victory over the Wolves, who came in ranked 10th nationally in the NJCAA's Division III Pre-season poll. Sophomore forward Meghan Menzel scored twice, while Marlene Sanchez had a goal and an assist, and Kelly Huber also scored a goal. Alexa Hernandez, Kim Diaz and Morgan Zamora were each credited with assists in the match. Chiefs' keeper Tanner Prellberg registered five saves in goal on her way to picking up the win. Waubonsee's next match is Monday, August 27 when they host St. Charles (MO.) Community College at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
