St. Charles (MO.) rallies to tie Chiefs

(Sugar Grove, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College jumped out to a 3-1 lead only to see visiting St. Charles (MO.) Community College rally to salvage a 4-4 tie. Isabel Cerda again scored four goals for Waubonsee to become the first player in Chiefs' history to net eight goals in their first two collegiate games. The freshman from Plainfield South High School scored twice in the first half, with assists from Marlene Sanchez and Marisa VanWyhe, as Waubonsee grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead. Cerda completed her second 'hat trick' with her third goal only two minutes into the second half. Just four minutes later the Cougars scored to get their deficit down to 3-2. However, Cerda promptly answered with her fourth goal of the match just a minute later. St. Charles (2-0-2) scored again midway through the second half to make it 4-3. The Cougars then tied it with only four minutes left in regulation on a goal by Gabbie Weisner. For the game the Chiefs (1-0-1) registered 15 shots on goal compared to 10 for the Cougars. Waubonsee's keeper Tanner Prellberg was credited with six saves in goal.
