Zagoren's Hat Trick helps Chiefs top Parkland for 10th win

(Champaign, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College made the most of its trek to Parkland College, knocking off the Cobras 4-3 on their own turf. The victory moved the Chiefs' overall record to 10-5-1. Waubonsee got on the board in the 24th minute when Ashley Bailey scored with an assist from Marlene Sanchez. The Chiefs added a second score in the 37th minute of the first half as Eliana Zagoren knocked in the first of her three goals in the match with an assist from Sonia Macias. The Cobras (3-10) also booked a pair of first half goals to tie the score at two-all heading into the intermission. Zagoren then took over in the second half netting her second goal of the match and season in the 55th minute with an assist from Bailey. Zagoren then tallied the eventual game winning goal and her third of the day in the 67th minute. Shelby Key was credited with the assist, her fifth on the year. The Chiefs then held off the Cobras to secure the win as keeper Alexis Coronilla made a dozen saves in goal for Waubonsee. The Chiefs are next in action on Monday, October 21 when they play at South Suburban College in their regular season finale.
