(Sugar Grove, IL.) - The Waubonsee Community College Chiefs' Invitational was held August 24, 25 and 26 on the Chiefs' Sugar Grove campus. The 31-team round-robin tournament, the largest junior college volleyball tournament in the country, was the season opener for many of the participating schools from across Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Ohio. A total of 22 matches were played on Friday in Waubonsee's Erickson Hall Gymnasium and the college's Field House. Saturday's contests, 32 in all, began at 9:00 a.m. (CST) and didn't finish until 10:00 p.m. (CST). On Sunday 15 more matches were played, totaling 69 matches completed over three days.
