Chiefs win ISCC showdown at McHenry

(Crystal Lake, IL.) - In an early season showdown between two of the top teams in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) the last five years, Waubonsee Community College edged McHenry County College in three tightly contested games. The Chiefs downed the Scots (11-7, 1-2), winners of the ISCC title the last three years, in three close games 25-22, 25-23 and 25-21. For Waubonsee (9-4, 2-0), which won the ISCC crown in 2014 and finished second three other times in the last five seasons, it breaks a 6-match losing streak to McHenry dating back to 2014.

Maizy Larson and Anna Friedlund both booked seven kills to pace the Chiefs. Kayla Battle also contributed six kills and made five solo blocks. Waubonsee setter Natalie Jones tallied 20 assists, while Sidney Fedor added 11 digs and served up a pair of aces. Emma King also had two serving aces and Kendall Iversen chipped in with 10 digs.
