After a Waubonsee service error, Sydney Fedderly and Gabrielle Dlabal combined on a block to give the Chiefs a 24-22 lead. Sydni Coultrip then finished off the win with a kill from the middle of the net. After the Braves took the early lead in game two the Chiefs again battled back. An 8-1 run by coach Steve Kish's crew put the Chiefs in front comfortably at 18-13 before the Chiefs won the set by seven points. In the third game the Braves jumped out to a six-point lead before Fedderly temporarily stopped the bleeding with an emphatic kill from the right side. Waubonsee eventually caught up tying the match at 9-all and taking an 11-9 lead on back-to-back serving aces by Coultrip.
