Chiefs set to play Fort Scott (KS) at Nationals

(Charlotte, NC) - The seeding for the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Women's Volleyball National Championship Tournament has been released. Waubonsee Community College, the Midwest Region District A Champions, received the 13th seed for the upcoming 16-team, double elimination tournament. The Chiefs will square off against fourth-seeded Fort Scott (KS) Community College beginning at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, November 21 at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Unranked Waubonsee enters the tournament with a 24-15 record overall. During the regular season coach Steve Kish's crew played 18 matches against nationally ranked opponents, including seven of the teams that qualified for the tournament. The Chiefs have faced top-seeded Parkland (IL) College (54-2), second-seeded Coffeyville (KS) Community College (39-2), seventh-seeded Northeast (NE) Community College (21-16), eighth-seeded Illinois Central (33-10) College, ninth-seeded Kirkwood (IA) Community College (26-14), 10th seeded Grand Rapids (MI) Community College (30-6) and 11th seeded McHenry County College (29-15) during the season. Fort Scott, ranked third nationally in the final regular season NJCAA Division II poll, enters the tournament with a 30-4 overall record after winning their last seven matches. The Greyhounds knocked off 11th ranked Highland (KS) Community College (29-9) three games to one in the Plains Region District B title match. They've also recently defeated 10th ranked Johnson County (KS) Community College (25-10) and 17th ranked Cloud County (KS) Community College (23-9) twice.
