Fedderly headlines Chiefs post-season awards

(Charlotte, NC.)  -- Four members of Waubonsee Community College's volleyball program recently received post-season honors. Sydney Fedderly headlined a trio of Chiefs' volleyball players who were recognized for their outstanding play this season. The freshman from Kaneland High School was named to the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Honorable Mention All-American team.

Fedderly, along with teammates Rebecca Robinson and Sydni Coultrip, were also honored by the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) and the Region IV volleyball committees. Fedderly and Robinson were both chosen to the All-ISCC First Team and All-Region First Team, while Coultrip was tabbed All-ISCC Second Team. Head Coach Steve Kish was selected the Region IV Division II District A Coach of the Year after leading the Chiefs to the Region title and a berth in the National Tournament.

Fedderly led Waubonsee's attack registering 471 kills, placing her 17th nationally among all NJCAA Division II players. The 5'8" outside hitter also was 13th nationally in points with 585.0 and ninth in serving aces with 77. More than just an offensive threat, she led the Chiefs with 584 digs to rank 37th in the country in that category. Robinson, a freshman from Batavia High School, led the Chiefs with 814 assists and was sixth nationally with 81 serving aces. The 5'8" setter also recorded 225 kills, 262 digs and tallied 324.0 points on the season. A 5'10" sophomore, Coultrip was second on the Chiefs with 387 kills and 521 assists. The Somonauk High School product also booked 48 serving aces, 240 digs and was second on the team with 471.0 points.

In his eight seasons at Waubonsee, Kish has guided the Chiefs to 205 wins, including a 49-12 mark in ISCC play. His teams have reached the Region IV title match the last six years in a row. This past fall unranked Waubonsee captured the Region IV title for the second time in school history. The Chiefs then finished the season 24-17 overall after going 0-2 at the 2019 NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Charleston, West Virginia.
